I hear stories of people getting grabbed in there. The "trough" is dirty and can overflow onto the floor as does the sink. In addition, sometimes the bathrooms are scary. The bouncers at the door are generally great, but the one taking the coats was rude. My roommate may not be the most responsible person in the world, but he was given the wrong jacket twice! My roommate sometimes doesn't get his coat until the next day, and the coat checker gave his coat to a different number (checked out by numbers).
